Statement: I had bought all these silk fabrics and needed to play with them. I used a light weight interfacing to stabilize the fabric before stitching rows by hand and machine as well as couching some beautiful yarns onto the fabric. I then cut it into triangles, rearranged and stitched them together, all raw edge. The background felt separate from the centrepiece so I added some circles of lame fabric and sequins across both areas to tie it together. It evokes the glitz and swirl of beautiful dance costumes in the summer.

Materials/Techniques: Machine pieced silk, couching, hand and machine embroidery, piping and embellishments.
