Colours on the Rock
18” X 45”
2013
Statement: After seeing images of Marianne’s Colours to Live By (the representational version), I was drawn to the bright colours and shapes of the Newfoundland houses. Photos of more houses, tourist booklets and the TV show, Republic of Doyle, helped further my design process. This was an exciting challenge although it was also a struggle at times.
Materials/Techniques: machine pieced, raw edge applique, machine quilted
Created for the FAN Travelling Exhibit “ Abstracted” where one artist (Marianne Parsons) did a representational interpretation of a theme and the second artist (myself) did an abstract version.
Accepted into SAQA's Colour with a U Too Exhibit
